Focus:   Hold the shutter button down  halfway,  use  both  hands  to  take  pictures and hold  the  camera  still,  keep  the  camera  close  to  your  body.

Rule  of  Thirds: Divides a  picture  shot  into  9 grids  

(object should  be  in one of the  middle  corners of the  grid),  move subject from  the center  of the  picture.

Lighting:  (Artificial  vs  natural):  sun  always  should be over your shoulder, have good  back  lighting, clouds  are  a  good  thing.   

Importance  of

 Background:  Eliminate  unnecessary items in the  pictures background, plain  backgrounds  are  best.
